Mission Bay

Game days around the neighborhood are a bustle with excitement and activity.

Welcome to Mission Bay

Mission Bay, together with its adjoining South Beach neighbor is one of San Francisco’s fastest growing neighborhoods. Roughly bounded by Townsend Street and 7th Street, Mission Bay was created by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors as a redevelopment project. Much of the land was a rail yard but now has rapidly evolved into a young, wealthy neighborhood of luxury condominiums, artsy lofts and high-end apartment buildings. Along withe residential component (a planned 6,000 units total), the Mission Bay neighborhood has the convenience of urban living at its fingertips.
Mission Bay has a peaceful and family oriented atmosphere with over 40 acres of green parks including Mission Bay Playground and Dog Park. The neighborhood is also the home to Championship sports teams like the NBA’s Golden State Warriors at Chase Center and MLB’s San Francisco Giants’ Oracle Park. And with its convenience to CalTrain, you can easily commute down the Peninsula to work and still call San Francisco home.

Fourth Street runs through the heart of Mission Bay and many great restaurants can be found along the Fourth Street Corridor. District is a rustic bar and lounge offering one of the most extensive and diverse wine and whiskey programs in San Francisco. District also offers draft craft beers and handcrafted cocktails alongside a food menu of gourmet small plates and hand-tossed pizza. Neighborhood favorites include the industrial-chic wine bar Mission Bay Wine & Cheese, and colorful Ethiopian kitchen House of TaduSPARKS Social Food Trucks is a unique Mission Bay destination next to UCSF Medical Center at the south end of Fourth Street. SPARKS features a beer and sangria garden lined with more than 150 street food vendors. The food trucks at the SPARKS social field sell a huge variety of international specialties every single day of the year. A block away from the water of the Mission Creek Channel, coffeehouse Café Reveille offers a mix of classic American breakfast and lunch eats and nutrition-conscious superfood bowls and salads. San Francisco's popular coffeeshop chain Philz Coffee’s Fourth Street location is another great choice for getting your caffeine fix. Philz serves delicious custom coffee blends alongside a wide selection of teas, specialty drinks, and pastries.

Sights & Culture

Mission Bay is without doubt the home of sports in San Francisco. The state-of-the-art Chase Center opened in 2019 with a concert from Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. More than 200 events take place at the Chase Center every year as well as every home basketball game from the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. Oracle Park arrived in the neighborhood as the new home of Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants in 2000. Many major concerts have taken place at Oracle Park since it opened including performances from The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Eagles, Ed Sheeran, Guns N’ Roses, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Mission Bay Kids’ Park features innovative interactive play zones and a natural play zone with boulders, earth mounds, logs, and sand.
